The mission of the Western Folklife Center’s Deep West Video program is to tell first-hand stories from the rural West that are rooted in the values of life on the land. For the last four years, the Western Folklife Center, in partnership with Edge of Discovery, has worked with students and educators from the Owyhee Combined School on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation to create Deep West Videos. Premiering this year at the 34th National Cowboy Poetry Gathering are videos that explore the landscape, history, culture, and languages of the West. The 2018 filmmakers are Karem Orrego and returning student filmmakers Devin Baker, Dilan Bill, Talliah Hanchor, Terry Howard, Gage Johnson, Destiny Max, Lance Owyhee and Isabella Pasqual. Karem Orrego (Edge of Discovery) directed the project with guidance from Carol Dalrymple and student supervisors Colene Paradise and David Baker. Host: Carol Dalrymple

Presented with support from the R. Harold Burton Foundation and Western Folklife Center stakeholders.
